Space Camp at St Benedict’s

St Benedict's College held its second Space Camp for grade 8 pupils over the last week of the second term.

The boys embraced the concept of space to learn more about maths and science.

Ten different lessons were provided, each related to the topic of space.

The boys were divided into 10 groups of 14 members. The groups were encouraged to improve on the results of previous groups in relation to the tasks performed. Activities included launching pressurised bottle rockets, fixing computers underwater, building heat shields and more.

The boys were able to plan, design and execute many solutions successfully, which showed their commitment to the tasks.

This year saw St Benedicts’ pupils launch 50 solid rockets – of which only a few were unsuccessful, an improvement on last year, .
