Man robbed by bogus cops

One of the men was allegedly wearing a full police uniform.

Another motorist was robbed allegedly by bogus police officers on Thursday, September 26.

Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, said a man was driving his charcoal-coloured Mercedes Benz on the N3 South just before the Gillooly’s Interchange when three men in a white Toyota Hilux stopped him.

“One of the men in the bakkie was allegedly wearing a full police uniform. The suspects asked the man to exit his vehicle and another one asked for the victim’s drivers’ licence.

“They told him it was invalid and assaulted him. They then ordered him into their bakkie. One of the suspects drove the victim’s vehicle, following the bakkie with the victim inside,” said Sgt Nhlabathi.

He said the men drove around with the victim and later dropped him off in Tsakane.
