Community apprehends suspect

The man followed the suspects while screaming for help.

The Jeppe SAPS arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Bertrams on October 5.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said a man was approached by three suspects in Kimberly Road.

“One of the men pointed a firearm at the man. The other suspects were in possession of a knife and screwdriver. They searched the man, took an iPhone and wallet containing money and fled,” said W/O Munyai.

The man followed the suspects while screaming for help. The community chased the men and apprehended one suspect who was in possession of the screwdriver and the man’s wallet. Residents contacted the police and the man was arrested. He confessed to the police and the wallet was returned to the owner.
