Animation Generation celebrates creative youngsters

Winning means Danielle Rothwell will be able to see her creation brought to life on Cartoon Network this October in an Adventure Time promo.

Bedfordview Primary School pupil, Danielle Rothwell (13), won first place at the Animation Generation nationwide initiative by Cartoon Network in Johannesburg.

The initiative celebrated its eighth year in South Africa with a record-breaking 13 021 entries.

Winning means Danielle Rothwell will be able to see her creation brought to life on Cartoon Network this October in an Adventure Time promo.

Along with her victory, Bedfordview Primary School has won R7 000 to enhance the art facilities at the school in order to further improve the creativity of their students.

“The aim of this year’s competition was to give students the opportunity to harness their natural creativity and entries did not disappoint. They were original, exciting and of an exceptional standard,” said Tal Hewitt, the general manager at Africa for Turner Broadcasting System.

The Animation Generation initiative is a drawing competition that promotes illustration and celebrates the imagination of many talented young South Africans. The theme for this year’s initiative was the hit comedy Adventure Time.
