Three cars involved in Stoneridge collision

Eyewitnesses allege the driver of the Tata did not stop at the traffic lights.

Three vehicles were involved in an accident on Hereford Road and Stoneridge Drive on Friday, October 9.

Jonathan Van Wyk, an Emer-G-Med worker who was dispatched to the scene said, “A Toyota stopped at a traffic light which was not working. When it was safe for the driver to proceed into the intersection, a Tata van came from the right hand side and collided with his vehicle. The Tata was travelling fast enough that it continued onwards and collided with a Mercedes Benz which was in another lane.”

Eyewitnesses allege the driver of the Tata did not stop at the traffic lights.

Stunned Edenvale resident, Vikash Hira, was the driver of the Mercedes Benz, said he was stationary when the Tata collided with him.

No major injuries were reported, but this was one of many cases that have occurred this year. This has led to the National Road Safety Summit conceptualising long-term strategies to reduce the high number of vehicle accidents on South Africa’s roads.
