The Bedfordview Bowls Club held its annual awards dinner on October 12.

At the gala dinner, the club rewarded its best players for the last season.

To kick off the proceedings, the club awarded honorary life memberships to Pauline Davis and Bill Chambers.

In the women’s club competition, winners and runners up were selected in the following categories; drawn pairs, selected pairs, senior singles, handicap singles and open singles.

Runners up in the drawn pairs were Brenda Webb and Carol Swartz, while the winners were Sharon Glenn and Angela Tranchitella.

In the selected pairs category, Roxanne Tingle and Carol Swartz were the runners up, and Jenny Gerrard and Mairi Friend were the winners.

Kathy Venter was the runner up in the senior singles category while Sharon Glenn was the winner.

In the Handicap singles category, Roxanne Tingle was the runner up and Tracey-Lee Botha was the winner.

For the open singles category, Lauren Strachan was the runner up and Colleen Piketh was the winner.

In the mixed pairs competition, Colleen and Adrie Piketh were the runners up while Tracey-Lee and Dudley Botha were the winners.

In the men’s club competition drawn pairs category, the runners up were Alan Rock and Bob Sambridge, while the winners were Alan Smith and Dave Fortune.

In the selected pairs category, the runners up were Dudley and Terence Botha while the winners were Arthur and John Tingle.

John Thomson was the runner up in the senior singles and Demetri Kammitsis was the winner.

For the handicap singles category, Harold Muller was the runner up and Alan Smith was the winner.

In the open singles category, Jonathan Franks was the runner up and Alan Smith was the winner.

The club’s Victrix Ludorum was awarded to Tracey-Lee Botha, while the Victor Ludorum was awarded to Alan Smith.

Awards were also handed out to players who were selected to take part in tournaments for the Johannesburg Bowls Association (JBA).

In the women’s singles championship, Roxanne Tingle won gold while Colleen Piketh reached the semi-finals.

For the JBA women’s trips competition, Sharon Glenn, Brenda Webb and Angela Tranchitella were the runners up.

Sharon Glenn, Kathy Venter, Roxanne Tingle and Sandra van der Merwe reached the semi-finals of the JBA women’s fours competition.

In the JBA Presidents Cup, bowler Jenni Kleynhans was a runner up while Lauren Strachan and Sandra van der Merwe were selected.

For the JBA masters open singles, Roxanne Tingle was a runner up while Colleen Piketh, Tracey-Lee Botha and Jacqui Janse van Rensburg were selected.

In the JBA masters women’s senior competition, Sharon Glenn was selected and Kathy Venter finished as runner-up.

Sharon Glenn won the JBA senior Champion of Champions competition while Colleen Piketh received a meritorious award from the JBA.

Tracey-Lee Botha, Jonathan Franks, Jacqui Janse van Rensburg and Terence Botha were the winners of the JBA mixed fours competition.

The JBA men’s honours were awarded to Terence Botha, who reached the semi-finals of the JBA men’s singles championship, and Des Day, Alan Smith, Allen Rowe and Demetri Kammitsis who were semi-finalists in the JBA men’s fours championship.

Special mention was made of Adrie Piketh and Alan Smith, who took part in the JBA Presidents Cup and Duanne Abrahams, Terence Botha and Jonathan Franks who took part in the JBA open singles tournament.

Bowls South Africa (BSA) honours were also awarded on the evening.

Colleen Piketh and Roxanne Tingle were awarded for reaching the semi-finals in the pairs section of the Warwick Bowls SA Women’s National Tournament.

Also in the Warwick Bowls SA Women’s National Tournament, Colleen Piketh, Brenda Webb, Roxanne Tingle and Sandra van der Merwe were rewarded for reaching the semi-finals of the fours category.

In the BSA open masters category, Tracey-Lee Botha and Colleen Piketh were both selected announced as winners.

Sharon Glenn was the winner of the BSA senior masters tournament.

In the BSA junior masters tournament, Jacqui Janse van Rensburg, Roxanne Tingle and Lauren Strachan were selected and rewarded as runners up.

Roxanne Tingle, Kathy Venter and Sandra van der Merwe were rewarded for winning bronze in the BSA women’s B section inter-district tournament.

Rewards were given to Colleen Piketh, Tracey-Lee Botha and Tracey Herrington for winning gold in the BSA women’s open inter-district tournament.

In the Quadrangular PTA B section tournament, Roxanne Tingle, Kathy Venter and Sandra van der Merwe won gold.

BSA awards were also given to Sharon Glenn, Kathy Venter, Jenny Gerrard and Sandra van der Merwe for reaching the semi-finals of the Gauteng open four tournament.

A BSA award was given to Sharon Glenn and Kathy Venter for winning gold in the Gauteng open pairs category.

BSA men’s honours were also awarded on the night.

Alan Smith was rewarded for reaching the semi-finals of the singles category in the Warwick Men’s Nationals Tournament.

Terence Botha received an award for winning gold in the Quadrangular PTA B Sections tournament.

In the BSA men’s open inter-district tournament, Jonathan Franks was selected and won bronze.

Terence Botha received an award for being selected and winning gold in the BSA men’s B inter-district tournament.

Arthur Tingle received awards for his selection to play in the BSA junior masters championships as well as the BSA U/25 inter-district tournament.

Des Day, Allen Rowe, Alan Smith and Demetri Kammitsis received awards for winning gold in the Gauteng open men’s fours.

Bedfordview Bowling Club also presented awards to two bowlers for their selection and participation in international tournaments.

Colleen Piketh and Tracey-Lee Botha received awards for their selection to play in the World Bowls Championships held in Adelaide, Australia, the 8 Nations Tournament held in Scotland and the Namibian Test Series.

Colleen Piketh also received an award for winning bronze in the fours section of the World Bowls Championships.

Tracey-Lee Botha received an award for reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup Singles tournament.
