Edenvale law student excels

Former Edenglen High School pupil, Tamryn Magdalene Gorman, was recently chosen to compete in the Kovsies Moot Court Competition which was held in the Free State.

The competition entails arguing a court case in The Supreme Court of Appeal.

46 students representing different universities took part in the competition.

The competition was held over three days in the Supreme Court in Bloemfontein.

Only the top students were chosen for the event and Tamryn’s team made it to the final.

At the end of the competition, her team was awarded the best English team award and at an evening gala function, Tamryn was announced the winner of the competition by the judges of the Supreme Court.

After three months of preparation, winning the competition has opened many doors for Tamryn, including an opportunity to do her articles with a top law firm after she has completed her degree.

Tamryn said the highlight of this experience was having tea with the Dean of the Faculty of Law and personally meeting the Supreme Court Judges in Bloemfontein.

She matriculated from Edenglen High School in 2012 with three distinctions and is currently a law student at the University of Pretoria.
