Questions arise after Bedfordview shooting

It could be a hit staged as a robbery because once again his name is linked to other people who are involved in organised crime.

Safety and Security South Africa specialist investigator, Mike Bolhuis, believes the murder of Serbian national Veselin Laganin on Saturday morning was staged as a robbery gone wrong.

Mr Laganin was murdered in his apartment at the Wedgewood Green complex in Smith Street, Bedfordview, on November 2.

“We have questions surrounding the murder of Veselin Laganin. It could be a hit staged as a robbery because once again his name is linked to other people who are involved in organised crime. Mr Laganin appeared in court in February alongside Radovan Krecjir and the interesting part is that the bail for Mr Krecjir and Mr Laganin’s court appearance was paid by Bassam Issa, who was shot three weeks before Mr Laganin,” said Mr Bolhuis.

“According to my information and my investigators, nothing of extreme value was taken. Only two watches and two cellular phones were taken, despite there being more valuable items which were not stolen. That is why I do not think it was a robbery. Mastermind criminals do not break into a secure premises to steal watches and cellular phones,” said Mr Bolhuis.

Mr Laganin appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court in February on chargers of armed robbery with aggravating circumstances.
