Man arrested for fraud

The SAPS asks residents to report the loss of identity documents, bank cards and other important documents that could be used for fraud to avoid becoming a victim of criminals.

A man was arrested for attempting to open a bank account with forged documents in Bedfordview on October 10.

According to Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi, “The suspect claimed to be someone else and sent a letter to the bank wanting to open an account. An employee at the bank noticed discrepancies with the suspect’s ID book because the ID number was registered to an account already with the bank.”

The police were contacted and the man was arrested.
