Investigations continue into resident’s kidnapping case

The investigations into the hijacking, kidnapping and robbery of a Kensington man are continuing, according to the Cleveland SAPS.

The 40-year-old victim was stopped by what he thought were members of the Flying Squad, while driving home on Langermann Drive on November 1.

He was subsequently hijacked, kidnapped and robbed. The man was later released, but not before the men took R15 000 in cash from the victim. The suspects also took his son’s tablet device.

In addition, the suspects also took a bag with some of the goods the man sells at his business.

“The police took my statement and told me they would get back to me. They have not even been to my complex to question the security guard who took down the registration number of the car the suspects used,” said the man, who wished to withhold his identity.

He said he would not rest until justice is served. The Cleveland SAPS has asked the man to be patient. “The complainant must bear with us. The investigating officer is away for a family burial. As soon as he gets back he will call the man’s wife and child in order to take down their statements,” said Constable Mpho Mashakane of the Cleveland SAPS.

She said they were avoiding handing over the docket to another officer, who would not have first-hand knowledge of the case.

“I will continue to probe as I want this matter sorted,” said the man.
