Good memory saves motorist

When the suspects approached his vehicle, he remembered one of the men from when he was previously robbed in July.

A man was arrested for attempted robbery on January 10 along the R24 in Bedfordview.

According to the Bedfordview SAPS communication officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabati, “The arrest made after man driving a Nissan was approached from his left side by a grey vehicle. Two men in the grey vehicle showed him a police card and instructed him to stop. The man proceeded to stop.”

When the suspects approached his vehicle, he remembered one of the men from when he was previously robbed in July. The man told one of the suspects that he remembered him from a robbery in which the suspect stole his possessions armed with a knife. He told the suspect that he was going to call the police. The two suspects fled the scene in different directions.

The man informed the officers in a passing police vehicle who then gave chase. The officers managed to arrest one of the suspects.
