An alert security officer from Mvula caught a man shortly after he broke into a Greenstone residence last week.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said the officer was patrolling when he noticed the man standing along the side of the road with a large bag.
“The officer stopped and searched the man, only to find he was concealing a safe in the bag,” said Lt Col Roberts.
The man was questioned and revealed that he broke into a house in a secure Greenstone complex.
“We are investigating the possibility that this man could be linked to two other cases,” said Lt Col Roberts.
The man was charged with house burglary, being in possession of suspected stolen property and for being in possession of implements used in house burglaries.
