A man has been arrested for rape in Yeoville.
The incident occurred along Isipingo Street while the victim was walking to her residence.
“The victim was walking home when she was confronted by a man on the street. The man strangled her and forced her to the ground before raping her,” said Constable Thabo Malatji of the Yeoville SAPS.
Police officers who were in a passing patrol vehicle were alerted by her screams. “The officers managed to arrest the man at the scene and he was detained at the Yeoville SAPS.
“He is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of rape,” said Const Malatji.
