Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said the suspects were trying to rob a family when they were caught off guard by the security officers.
“The victim claimed that a shooting ensued between the security guards and suspects. One security guard was shot and injured. One of the suspects was also shot and injured,” said Const Mashakane.
She added that an accomplice carried the injured suspect and they fled the scene in a vehicle driven by another accomplice.
“The police were called to the scene and a case of attempted murder was opened. The victim was taken to hospital,” said Const Mashakane.
