Three men believed to be behind a robbery in Alexandra were arrested when they visited the Edenvale Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said details of the apparent robbery were unclear but the arrests were made by officers from the Sandringham SAPS.
“Officers followed up information that the men were injured during the alleged robbery following an argument in Alexandra. One firearm was stolen,” he said.
“When officers arrived at the hospital, they found the three men applying to receive treatment for their injuries. The men were searched and the stolen firearm was found in their possession,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He added that the men were placed under police supervision while receiving treatment.
“All three appeared in the Germiston Regional Court on Wednesday on charges relating to the Firearms Act,” said Lt Col Roberts.
He thanked the Sandringham SAPS for the quick response which lead to the arrest of the three men.
