Firemen showcase their skills

Modderfontein became the scene of a raging inferno when a Burnout event took place on Ardeer Road on Saturday, May 31.

The event, which featured the Modderfontein Fire Department, was a spectacle that featured firefighter drill competitions, fire department vehicles on display, the ‘how to survive in a smoke room’ lesson and the ‘fight the fat boy fire as a team’ lesson.

Residents who attended were also able to enjoy rugby matches on a big screen, food from the Hook and Ladder kitchen, drinks from the Fireman’s Tarven and jumping castles for children.

The finale of the showcase featured the extinguishing of a blazing inferno by firefighters.
