Manny de Freitas appointed as shadow transport minister

He served on transport committees in the Gauteng Legislature and in the previous Parliament as shadow deputy minister for transport.

Mr De Freitas said he is excited and looking forward to the challenge of addressing transport problems.

“I am excited to return to the transport portfolio as this is a job creator and vital in the economic development in South Africa. There are a number of transport issues which South Africans are currently confronting. Issues such as the toll road project where there are proposals to establish similar systems in other provinces are an example of issues which need to be dealt with,” said Mr De Freitas.

He said the unacceptable high number of road deaths is another problem.
