12 motorists were arrested for driving while intoxicated over the weekend.

The arrests were made during an operation between officers from the Edenvale SAPS and members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD).

“We would like to thank the EMPD members who assisted at various roadblocks over the weekend. We also urge motorists to not drive while under the influence of alcohol,” said the acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts.

He added that residents who attend various events over the weekends should make sure they have a designated driver.
