Three caught with hijacked car

The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Fourth Street and Van Riebeeck Avenue and the three men were arrested.

Three men were arrested in the Edenvale Avenues late yesterday afternoon, July 3, for driving a hijacked motor vehicle.

Crime prevention officers from the Edenvale SAPS, Constables Bradley Goldblatt and Sandile Hadebe, were on routine patrols in the CBD when they noticed three occupants of a Toyota Tazz acting suspiciously.

“We called in for a test on the vehicle’s registration and it was returned positive as stolen,” said Const Goldblatt.

The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Fourth Street and Van Riebeeck Avenue and the three men were arrested.

They were detained at the Edenvale Police Station while further investigations were conducted.

It was found that the vehicle was taken during a hijacking in Paulpetersburg in December last year.

During a search of the vehicle, police officers also found a large amount of tools.
