Committee making progress
“The progress is there for all to see. Those who were selected to carry out duties have been doing that,” said Mr Cele.
Malvern’s Persimmon Street committee is making good progress.
This is according to the chairman of the committee, Mr Wilton Cele, a resident and community leader in Malvern.
“The progress is there for all to see. Those who were selected to carry out duties have been doing that,” said Mr Cele.
He said eradicating crime in the area was a work in progress. In a meeting held earlier this year, the committee nominated members to serve on its executive.
“We receive reports from them regularly. They keep us informed of the challenges and progress made. Every resident has some responsibility,” said Mr Cele.
He said the committee was still in the process of establishing street patrollers and hoped to make more progress.
“We are engaging with the local authorities. We are in need of uniforms and we hope to have the patrollers registered first, before they can start serving the community,” said Mr Cele.
He said residents should continue to organise themselves in the fight against crime. @JoburgJourno
