The South African Congress for Early Childhood Development (SACECD) has elected a new executive.
The election was hosted by the Malvern ECD forum at Malvern Primary School on Wednesday, July 9.
Those elected to office are Ms Jane Mogatusi (chairperson), Ms Happy Gamede (deputy chairperson), Ms Nomthandazo Maphosa (secretary), Mr Andrew Chinembiri (deputy secretary) and Ms Zodwa Phaka (treasurer). “The executive thanks all members who showed confidence in them and voted them into office. We hope they carry out their duties with diligence and integrity,” said Mr Andrew Chinembiri, the newly elected deputy secretary of SACECD.
He said the executive agreed that it should desist from the custom of just child-minding without any developmental skills. The principal of Malvern Primary School, Mr Heradien, shared the sentiments of the executive.
Mr Heradien encouraged all Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres around the area to develop children holistically.
The newly elected executive agreed that parents should always be cautious about their children’s development because the foundation is the most important in the education of a child. @JoburgJourno
