Warrant Officer Richard Munyai, the Jeppe SAPS communications officer, said police officers were patrolling the area when they saw three vehicles with people in each car.
“When they stopped, the occupants exited the vehicles and started shooting at the police. Police officers shot back but all the suspects escaped,” said W/O Munyai.
A police constable was shot in the right thigh. He was taken to the Millpark Hospital.
“A case of attempted murder has been opened for investigation,” said W/O Munyai.
