St Benedict’s College alive with music

St Benedict’s College came alive with the sounds of various African instruments when the school hosted the third Education Africa International Marimba and Steelpan Festival 2014.

The festival, hosted in partnership with Education Africa, took place on August 2 and 3 at the school in Bedfordview.

Over 9 000 performers from all nine provinces and various countries including Lesotho, Swaziland, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago took part in the festival.

The festival also featured entertainment, a flea and craft market, opportunities to learn and play marimba, djembe drums and steelpans. Visitors could also learn several African dances at the event. @BedfordJourno
