Gordon road vacant stand cleaned
Residents of the nearby old-age home will be the most relived, as this affected them the most.
Bertrams residents can breathe a sigh of relief, following the cleaning of the vacant stands on Gordon Road recently.
The stands have been vacant for years and the grass had grown to unacceptable lengths.
Residents of the nearby old-age home will be the most relived, as this affected them the most.
The stands are situated near the Gerald Fitzpatrick House (GFH), which houses a number of frail-care patients. The EXPRESS has previously reported residents’ complaints regarding the vacant stands.
In one of the complaints, a resident claimed that the Fire Department had to be called to the stand following the burning of tyres. Other complaints included mattresses being dumped and illicit sex-acts being performed on the stands.
The housekeeper at GFH, Ms Lauren Aswegen, said she appreciates the stands being cleaned.
“This has been an ongoing problem for GFH. We house frail-care patients and the burning of tyres was not good for their health,” said Ms Aswegen.
