Proposal to close service road
She added that it was unfortunate that the concrete bollard which prevented this from happening in the past was taken away.
The ward 18 councillor for Edenvale, Clr Heather Hart, has proposed that Armco barriers be installed to prevent taxi drivers from using the service road next to Laurie Road.
“The taxi drivers take the service road alongside Laurie Road to jump the traffic queue and then force their way into the traffic at Margaret Road, often blocking traffic,” said Clr Hart.
She added that it was unfortunate that the concrete bollard which prevented this from happening in the past was taken away.
“It was only a temporary solution,” said Clr Hart.
“We know first of all that this is not an official road, therefore all the more reason to close it off to traffic and for it to just be used by residents to access their driveways,” said Clr Hart.
She has proposed that the road be closed off from the end property right up to Laurie Road.
