Resident hijacked in driveway

Members of the community have been urged to be vigilant when driving in and out of their properties.

Constable Mpho Mashakane, the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, said a man was leaving his house in Nile Street, Kensington, on September 10 when he was hijacked.

“He reversed his car and stopped outside. He stepped out of the car to close the gate. The occupants of an Audi A4 began driving towards him slowly. One of the suspects stepped out and cocked his firearm. He was shouting and swearing at the victim. The victim thought it was undercover police, but when the suspect demanded the car keys he realised that he was being hijacked,” said Const Mashakane.

The man ran inside the house.

The suspects drove away with his grey Polo with the registration number BC 25 XT GP.

“We urge the community to be vigilant when they drive in and out of their yards. These criminals are heavily armed and dangerous. We will do everything we can to nab them,” said Const Mashakane.
