Women, children held at gunpoint

House robbers hold children at gunpoint, demand cash from woman.

One man was arrested and three escaped following a botched housebreaking on Nottingham Street, Kensington, on Monday.
The Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashikane, said the culprits removed the gate from its rail to gain entry to the property.
”The domestic worker saw men enter the premises. When she went to investigate, she was held at gunpoint and ordered to close her eyes,” said Const Mashikane.
Two of the men went to the cottage where they found another woman and four children.
”The men pointed firearms at the woman and demanded cash,” Const Mashikane told the EXPRESS.
She said police received a call from a community member about a house robbery in progress.
SAPS members cornered one suspect and recovered a getaway vehicle.
”The getaway vehicle, a silver BMW, was previously reported as stolen in Honeydew in July this year. Inside the vehicle we found housebreaking equipment and balaclavas,” said Const Mashikane.
