Jeppe SAPS catch suspected hijacker

The Jeppe SAPS arrested a 30-year-old man for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle.

On Sunday evening, the driver of a BMW 3 Series was driving in Malvern when he was approached by two men. One of the suspects had a firearm.

The driver was ordered to exit the vehicle.

The victim’s tablet device, watch and cash were in the car when it was hijacked.

The two men drove off in the vehicle, leaving the owner stranded.

On Monday morning, a 47-year-old man reported a cse of theft at the Jeppe SAPS.

Apparently the suspects who hijacked the BMW stole the number plates from his Hyundai truck and put them on the stolen BMW.

A case of theft was opened and on Monday morning the victim phoned the police. He said one of the suspects was parked next to his house in Bertrams.

The police arrived at the scene and found the BMW. Investigations revealed that the car was registered as hijacked at the Cleveland SAPS on Sunday.

A suspect was arrested and detained at the Jeppe SAPS, where he was charged with possession of a hijacked vehicle and theft.

He will appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court soon.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, said police investigations are continuing.
