Hirsch’s celebrates Arbor Week
One of the most useful and nutritious fruits is the lemon, and with this in mind, Hirsch's branches around the country planted lemon trees.
The trees were planted either in pots or in a garden area to celebrate Arbor Week.
The lemon has been used for its amazing healing properties for centuries, but not many people know that it can also be used as a battery to produce electricity by attaching electrodes to the lemon.
Several lemon batteries can power a small digital watch. No kitchen should be without a good supply of lemons as they have fantastic cleaning properties.
As a sanitary kitchen deodoriser, the juice can deodorise, remove grease, bleach stains and disinfect.
The oil from the peel also has several uses, including wood cleaning and polishing.
Lemon oil is also used as a non-toxic insecticide treatment.
