The NEWS’ sister publication, the Joburg East Express, has reported that an elderly woman was tied up during a robbery at Buckingham Street in Kensington recently.
This comes as the latest incident in a string of robberies targeting elderly residents.
“The woman returned from the shops and found three men inside her house.
“The men ordered her to a bathroom and tied her hands and feet. They stole her cellular phone and tablet device, among other items, before fleeing the scene,” said Const Mashakane.
She said it appeared that the men gained entry into the house by removing burglar bars from one of the windows.
