A rape suspect was arrested in Belgravia on Sunday. Jeppe SAPS officers made the arrest.
The victim claimed she went to Princess Street with her two friends and a male companion, where they drank beer.
She said her friends left and she remained with one man. The man grabbed her, assaulted her and raped her.
The communications officer for the Jeppe SAPS, Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi said the complainant screamed and a patrolling police van heard her screams and stopped.
The officers arrested the suspect and took him to Jeppe SAPS, where he was charged and detained.
The man will appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court soon. Police investigations are continuing.
