Deceased’s family were filling in forms when #Hijackers took off with mortuary van and body of loved one

The signal from the tracking device led police officers to the body stolen with the vehicle.

A deceased’s family members and Gauteng Department of Health officials were completing paperwork when a mortuary van was hijacked this afternoon.

The incident occurred outside the Home Affairs offices in Germiston.

Germiston SAPS released a lookout for the vehicle and the signal from the vehicle’s tracking device was picked up in the Cleveland SAPS precinct.

It is believed the hijackers then stopped at the Heriotdale dump site where they disposed of both the body in the van and the vehicle tracking device fitted in the vehicle.
