Road users support anti-etoll campaign.

Ms Cynthia Ahrensmeier, one of the organisers from Proudly E-Tag Free, said the procession was in protest against e-tolls in Gauteng.

Traffic came to a halt on the N3 South, just before the Linksfield off ramp, as the Proudly E-Tag Free procession passed by.

Ms Cynthia Ahrensmeier, one of the organisers from Proudly E-Tag Free, said the procession was in protest against e-tolls in Gauteng.

There was a banner hanging on the Linksfield bridge asking motorists to blow their hooters as they passed by the bridge.

She said that participants included bikers and motorist.

At least two out of three cars or trucks that passed by hooted.

“We did not have the turn up we wanted, but the support we received from road users was unimaginable. We were happy with the reaction we received,” she said.

Ms Ahrensmeier added that more protest action will be organised in the near future.

“We are happy the Gauteng premier is calling on re-looking ate-tolling. We hope we will get buy-in from the government so that we can scrap e-tolling,” she said.
