R2-million worth of stolen cables recovered

One person was shot and killed and a second victim sustained critical injuries during the robbery.

Copper cables valued at over R2-million were seized in Edenvale last night.

The cables were taken during an armed robbery in Heidelburg on October 11.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said one person was shot and killed and a second victim sustained critical injuries during the robbery.

“Hawks investigators followed up on information which led them to a property in Linbro Park yesterday,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He added that further investigations lead officers to a warehouse in Eastleigh where 13 rolls of copper cables were recovered.

“Two people were arrested in connection with the case,” said Lt Col Roberts.

Those arrested will appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
