BREAKING NEWS: Woman (36) with three firearms linked to mall robberies

Two men and a 36-year-old woman who were found in possession of three firearms and ammunition in Yeoville in the early hours of this morning, have been linked to mall robberies.

Two men and a 36-year-old woman who were found in possession of three firearms and ammunition in Yeoville in the early hours of this morning, have been linked to mall robberies.

The Yeoville SAPS communications officer, Constable Thabo Malatji, said police officers were investigating a mall robbery that took place at the Irene Village Mall.

He said the the robbery occurred on October 17.

Const Malatji said the men were also positively linked to a similar robbery that took place yesterday, at the Three Rivers Sopping Centre in the Vaal area.

“Cellular phones and laptop stores were robbed during these hits. One man was arrested at a guest house in Yeoville, where he was hiding. He then led the police to another man at a property  at the corner of Paddock and Bezuitenhout streets. Further investigations then led us to a property on Arthur and George streets, where the woman was arrested,” said Const Malatji.

“The woman showed the police three 9mm pistols. She was subsequently arrested for possession of three unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” he said.

Both men have been positively linked to both robberies.

Constable Malatji said the woman will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court and the men will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.
