Family robbed at gunpoint

The suspects took the victims upstairs where her other son was busy with his homework. The suspects then demanded the code to a safe.

The Jeppe SAPS is looking for two suspects who robbed a house in Jeppestown.

On August 13, at about 9pm, a 38-year-old woman was sitting in the house with her son and his friend when they were allegedly approached by two men, one armed with a firearm.

The suspects allegedly took three cellular phones belonging to the victim, her son and his friend. The suspects then demanded money and laptops.

Her son gave the men his laptop. The suspects took the victims upstairs where her other son was busy with his homework. The suspects then demanded the code to a safe.

The suspects opened the safe and took jewellery, watches and her husband’s car keys.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, from the Jeppe SAPS, said the victim claimed the suspects then put the gun in her mouth and demanded more items and threatened to rape her.

The suspects took her downstairs and demanded that she hand over her wallet.

The suspects locked all the victims inside the house and left.

Her older son managed to jump through the window and alerted the neighbours. They called the police who went and opened the door.

A case of house robbery was opened. Anyone who can recognise the suspects can contact the investigation officer, Detective Constable Samkelo Ndlovu, on 074 603 5243 or 011 624-6026.

Police investigations are continuing.
