Special birthday celebration for Doris
She was born in 1914, in Durban, where she grew up and was educated.
The Protea Old Age Home was abuzz with well-wishes and friendly smiles on Wednesday.
Family, staff and residents celebrated a very special birthday – former Modderfontein resident, Ms Doris Snape’s 100th.
Doris was wide-awake and thrilled to be spending time with her family, some of whom flew up from Kwazulu-Natal, for the celebration.
She was born in 1914, in Durban, where she grew up and was educated.
After school, she worked at Stuttafords before marrying Jack, who passed away in 2000.
Doris and Jack relocated to Zimbabwe in 1947, where they lived until 1995.
The couple had two daughters, Joan and Beverley.
Doris lived with her daughter, Joan Muller, who is a resident of Modderfontein, for a number of years before she became a resident at the Protea Old Age Home, nine years ago.
Joan said, “My mother was dedicated to her family and loved to sew, knit and cook in her younger days.”
The birthday party was enjoyed by all who attended and Ms Ani Venter, the general manager at the Protea Old Age Home, congratulated Doris on reaching this special milestone.
