Fighting pupils to face disciplinary processes

The pupils fought each other in full view of the public with no thought to the consequences.

The EXPRESS reported on a fight between pupils on November 19.

The fight, between pupils from the Malvern Primary, Denver Primary and Hillcrest Primary schools, spilt over into the street.

The pupils fought each other in full view of the public with no thought to the consequences.

Police officers were eventually summoned to restrain the pupils and break up the fight.

A meeting was held between the schools, the Cleveland Policing Forum and the Department of Community Safety to find ways of ensuring that this does not escalate to a much bigger problem. The department of education confirmed that they were notified of the incident.

Ms Phumla Sekhonyane, the spokesperson for the Gauteng Department of Education, said the pupils involved have been identified and the schools have initiated disciplinary processes against them.

“We strongly condemn the conduct of the pupils involved and the teachers who can be seen watching the pupils fighting without restraining them,” she added.
