Pilot project at Malvern Clinic

Patients on chronic medication; diabetes, asthma, hypertension, epilepsy and those on ARV treatment will be in the same queue.

The Malvern Clinic will be the pilot site for the implantation of the Integrated Management of Chronic Disease (ICDM) programme, which is an appointment-based system.

Patients on chronic medication; diabetes, asthma, hypertension, epilepsy and those on ARV treatment will be in the same queue.

The medication will be pre-packed the day before the appointment, which will help reduce the waiting time of patients, as everything will be ready when they arrive at the clinic.

The implementation will begin in January 2015, but the exact date is yet to be confirmed.

The programme is part of the National Health Insurance plan.

Any system that could reduce the waiting time at the Malvern Clinic is a good thing, as it will help reduce pressure on the nursing staff.

More information will be given at later date.
