Pupils support rhino project

The undertaking involved educational activities and projects in the classroom, including framed artwork produced by children from the playschool, which was bought by parents. The funds raised were used to purchase two life-size rhinos made from wire.

Saheti Primary and Pre-Primary pupils embraced a rhino awareness and fundraising campaign led by the Primary School’s principal, Mrs Sophia Zachariou.

The pupils contribute to the Forever Wild – Rhino Protection Initiative, which is administered by the Wilderness Foundation.

The undertaking involved educational activities and projects in the classroom, including framed artwork produced by children from the playschool, which was bought by parents. The funds raised were used to purchase two life-size rhinos made from wire.

Pupils then purchased different coloured ribbons which they tied to the wire rhinos over several days. In the process, the school raised R60 000.

The donation was presented to Dr William Fowlds, a veterinarian and champion of the Thandi Rhino Injection Fund, which he initiated to help treat rhinos that survive poaching.
