Christmas was a little dull for one man caught in Illiondale with two unlicensed firearms.

The arrest was made on December 23.

Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said officers were on routine patrol through the streets of Illiondale when they spotted three occupants of a vehicle acting suspiciously.

“When ordered to stop the vehicle the driver attempted to flee. He was forced off the road and the two passengers in the vehicle jumped out and fled the scene. The driver was taken into custody and his car searched,” Lt Col Roberts said.

He added that officers found two unlicensed fire arms as well as a security vest in the vehicle.
