Children celebrate Christmas

The concert themes were Under the sea at the Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home in Edenvale, and Animals: our friends and teachers at Elvira Rota Village, Bapsfontein.

The build-up to Christmas was a time of excitement at Little Eden.

Not only did both homes host annual Christmas concerts, but the 300 residents were all treated to fully-sponsored Christmas parties at their respective homes.

The concerts were the highlight of the year and the residents were excited to demonstrate their abilities through song and dance in their own special way.

Residents have been practising for months, with the patient guidance and assistance of staff.

The concert themes were Under the sea at the Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home in Edenvale, and Animals: our friends and teachers at Elvira Rota Village, Bapsfontein.

There was laughter and tears, and at the end of both concerts, the residents received overwhelming applause.

Emperors Palace sponsored the refreshments for the concerts, as well as the Christmas party for residents at the Domitilla and Danny Hyams Home.

Exxaro sponsored the party at the Elvira Rota Village.

The children were overjoyed at the sound of Father Christmas’s bell announcing his arrival and with bright eyes, they watched him distribute a wrapped gift to every child.

Little Eden is home to 300, mostly previously abandoned, children and adults with profound intellectual disability.
