Criminals target tenants

He added that criminals are now also targeting residential flats in Edenvale.

An increase in theft of, and theft out of, motor vehicles in Edenvale has the SAPS concerned.

“The Edenvale CBD and the Avenues are our biggest contributor to these types of crimes in Edenvale at the moment,” said the acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts.

He added that criminals are now also targeting residential flats in Edenvale.

“They know that many of the flats have limited parking available and residents or visitors have to park in the street,” said Lt Col Roberts.

He urged residents who live in flats to, as far as possible, make use of closed parking for their vehicles and their guests’ vehicles.

“Tenants in flats should also requested that where there is insufficient parking available, that a body corporate hire a security guard to keep an eye on vehicles,” said Lt Col Roberts.
