
According to the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, Jason Daniels broke into a house on Cumberland Street in Kensington on December 06, 2013.
“He tied up a woman who was in the house. He then ransacked the house. While he was busy ransacking the house, the victim saw the blue lights from a passing police vehicle. She screamed for help and the officers entered the house. The suspect fled with a laptop and some jewellery,” said Const Mashakane.
She added that the man was arrested few blocks from the scene.
“He appeared in court and was released on bail. While out on bail, the suspect broke into a house along Patrol Street in Kensington on December 19, 2013. Security officers noticed him carrying a large plastic bag filled with clothes. The security guards detained the man immediately. The value of the clothing was estimated to be R7 000,” said Const Mashakane.
On February 25 this year, Daniels was sentenced to 18 years in prison and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
