Police officers patrolling through Edenvale on Tuesday morning last week arrested a man in possession of a stolen plasma television set.
Acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said officers spotted the man carrying a large object wrapped in a blanket.
“The man was close to the Edenvale CBD taxi rank. When he saw the officers he put the object down and tried to run away. He was caught shortly afterwards,” Lt Col Roberts said.
Upon further investigation it was found the man was carrying a television.
Officers were also able to find other items the man had taken from a house in the Avenues.
“We were able to contact the home owner and inform him of the burglary before he even knew what had happened,” Lt Col Roberts said.
The man was previously arrested in Edenvale for a similar offence.
He appeared in the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on Thursday on charges of burglary, theft and possession of stolen property.
