Ms Bernadette Wentzel has stepped down as the Cleveland Community (CCPF) Police Forum Sector 3 chairperson

The CCPF Sector 3 congratulated and introduced Ms Roslyn Cassidy as the sector’s new chairperson.

An election was held on March 14 at the CCPF Sector 3’s annual general meeting.

Outgoing chairperson, Ms Wentzel, was full of praise for the new chairperson.

“I have the greatest respect for Ms Cassidy, who despite her many ongoing projects and hectic schedule, has accepted the challenge of the chairperson role bestowed upon her. As an active, trusted community member prior to her election, Ms Cassidy assisted in the upliftment of the Malvern community in her role as senior citizen welfare portfolio manager for sector 3.

“Ms Cassidy is a natural leader, a woman of great integrity whose energy inspires those around her. I call upon the residents of Malvern to offer their support and to occasionally volunteer their assistance to Ms Cassidy in the fight against crime together with the Cleveland SAPS,” Ms Wentzel said.

“As outgoing chairperson, I would also like to thank all members of the CCPF Sector 3’s executive, whose dedicated time and effort continuously inspired me. I thank the CCPF executive, especially the chairperson, Mr Godfrey Mothibe, for the continued support as well as the sector 3 head, Constable Sidney Dlamini, whose focus is decreasing the crime rate in Malvern, together with the assistance of all the other SAPS role-players.

“I also thank the ward councillor, Clr Mr Mike Spadino, who together with the JMPD, always attends to bylaw infringements; the Joburg East EXPRESS and its journalist, Buli Sonqishe, for assisting in getting the CCPF Sector 3’s word out to residents; and last but not least, all the individuals who work towards the betterment of the Malvern community. This includes Ms Jacqueline Madiba-Chinembiri and Mr Andrew Chinembiri from the Katia Early Childhood Development Centre for always availing themselves to fight for children’s rights and assisting the elderly at any given time of any day.

“It has been an honour and privilege to work with such a fantastic and ethical team. Malvern is blessed to have each and every one of you. I wish all the best for the newly elected team. May your endeavours be fruitful, may your support from the community of Malvern increase and above all else, may your safety and well-being be blessed. I trust in your leadership to inspire a community of unity against crime,” said Ms Wentzel.

Ms Wentzel urged the community of Malvern to unite as one and for leaders in the community to step up and make the changes needed to combat crime.

“The community can only make strides and succeed if people work together,” she said.
