A man suspected of armed robbery was shot and killed by his alleged victim at the Bez Valley Park on March 30 at about 7pm.
The Jeppe SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Richard Monyai, said a group of people had a party in the park when they were approached by four men.
“One man had a gun and another had a knife. The suspects searched the people and took their cellular phones.
“One of those held up asked not to be searched and handed his cellular phone over to the men. As they were searching the others, the man who had asked not to be searched, fired a shot at the suspect who had a firearm in his hand. The man died on the scene and his accomplices fled on foot towards the nearby river,” said W/O Monyai.
He added that an inquest docket has been opened.
