Home shares magical moments

The ‘magical moment’ and any accompanying photographs will be displayed on special notice boards that have been placed in all the care centre’s wings.

The Ron Smith Care Centre is capturing all the magical moments that make life so rewarding.

The Rand Aid Association care home’s Magical Moments Campaign aims to record memorable, touching moments experienced by residents, their families, staff members, volunteers and visitors.

“We ask that you take a good look around you and if you notice something heart-warming, memorable, moving, magical, good, funny or positive, please share it with us,” said Ms Debbie Christen, Rand Aid’s manager of recreational programmes.

The ‘magical moment’ and any accompanying photographs will be displayed on special notice boards that have been placed in all the care centre’s wings.

The care centre, situated on the grounds of Elphin Lodge, will transfer all contributed information to scrapbooks for the lasting enjoyment of all.

A few magical moments have already been recorded, including when staff members dressed in traditional wear and serenaded colleague Suzie Pretorius (now Webber) on the eve of her wedding.

The special moment Erina Fanucchi shared with her mother, Velma Pardini, a care centre resident, when Velma pointed out the beauty of a leaf falling from a tree during a walk in the gardens.

Other magical moments captured includes the interaction between some residents and therapy dogs from Paws for People.
