Resident warns of modus operandi

A Bedford Gardens resident has warned residents against leaving boxes of newly-purchased home appliances outside on their pavements on refuse collection days.

The woman, who spoke on anonymity, said a month after moving into her new home (not in Bedfordview) she bought new appliances and furniture.

“The next Monday I took out all my boxes with the wheelie bin to be collected by the municipal workers,” she said.

She told the NEWS that while she was sleeping, she heard her bathroom window break and three armed men entered her house.

“They demanded everything I had just bought. After tying me up and ransacking my house for more than three hours, they left with everything,” she said.

The 32-year-old said after moving to Bedfordview, she noticed that residents still make the same mistake she did.

The woman encouraged residents to start recycling.
