Bedford Centre to host safety awareness day

The Bedford Centre has partnered with, among others, Nightguard Security, the Bedfordview CPF and the SAPS to host a safety awareness day.
According to the centre’s marketing manager, Ms Nikki Savides, the initiative comes after the January 29 cash-in-transit heist that shook the centre and left residents in fear.
The centre has since taken measures to improve its security systems.
This included the appointment of a specialised security company, as well as the construction of a vault, which will ensure the removal of cash-in-transit guards from public spaces.
Also present at the event will be SATTA Paramedics, the K-9 unit, horses and the fire brigade.
“We would like to take it a step further and inform our community on how to keep safe in case of emergency,” said Ms Savides.
Promoters will hand out fliers with safety tips for both home and work.
The CPF will also have girls from St Andrews School handing out emergency numbers as well as sector vehicle contact details.
